A Simple Plan For Researching Teams

Introduction to the Sport of Rugby

Rugby, at present, is one of the most exciting contact sports. Rugby is like football in that it is a hard-hitting physical game, and at the same time it is like soccer in that it is a game of speed and movement.

When you look at the size and shape of a rugby ball, you will almost think that it is a football. Rugby balls are slightly larger than a football. Today you cannot find laces on rugby balls anymore. It is mandatory to wear a mouthpiece in a rugby game, but it is optional to wear a soft-padded head gear.

Rugby is played on a large playing field called the ‘pitch.’ The measurement of this large grassy surface is 100 meters long and 70 meters wide. Uprights are positioned on every end of the ruby field. The goal area is behind the uprights. This goal area much be 10 meters deep at its minimum and its depth is often 22 meters.

Two teams are represented in the pitch who will play the game. There are fifteen players in all for each team. The packs and the backs makes up a team. The players wearing jersey’s with numbers from one to eight can be identified as the pack players. The large, physical players of the team are placed in the pack group. The backs have jersey numbers from nine to fifteen, and made up of the fastest players.

Teams’ objective is to score a ‘try’ or a goal. To score a try, a player need to bring the ball down inside your opponent’s end zone and touch the ball down. There is no particular player that can carry the ball to the zone to make a score. You earn 5 points if you scored a try. When a player makes a try, he is then awarded a conversion kick. IF he is successful with his kick, 2 more points are added to the score.

Another way of scoring is through a drop goal. A drop goal is rewarded with three points. If the ball is kicked through the uprights of the opposing team then you have a drop goal. To make a drop goal the ball should make contact with the ground first before you kick it.

If a player fouls another, then they are given a penalty kick. Your team is given 3 points if you make good on your penalty kick. A penalty kick is taken where the foul was committed behind the 22 meter line.

Professional levels of rugby are already existing at present. In some countries, cities have teams, which is also the same with pro football teams in different states. Most popular among the rugby games are those played internationally. What makes up an international team are players from city teams in different countries. People are now learning to enjoy international rugby games.
